3. Stretch the lace as described earlier in this chapter. The lace should extend about ½ inch behind the edge of the wig foundation.

4. Sew the lace to the front edge of the wig foundation using either regular needle and thread or invisible thread.

5. Trim and turn under the lace so that the folded edge lines up with the first hairs. Sew the folded edge down.

6. Ventilate hair into lace, including the portion that overlaps the heavy foundation.

In general, start ventilating at the point that will be “underneath” when you are finished. For a wig that will be styled pulled back off the face, it is best to do the ventilating where the lace overlaps the commercial foundation first. Then move to the sideburns and work up to the center front.
